On June 13, 2023, the Chamber of Deputies of Luxembourg adopted a resolution recognizing the Holodomor as a genocide against the Ukrainian people.
LUkraine submitted the first petition for the recognition of the Holodomor as a genocide back in 2017. Since then, we have organized numerous events to honor the memory of those who perished in the famine and to draw the world’s attention to this injustice. Last November, the organization performed the “Uncounted 1932.2022. Food as a Weapon of Genocide” action in front of the Parliament in Luxembourg, giving them the opportunity to taste bitter cone soup and frozen potatoes. This gesture aimed to provide a glimpse into the hardships faced during that period and to raise awareness about the severity of the struggle for survival.
The Holodomor was an artificially created famine imposed by the Soviet authorities in 1932-1933, which resulted in the horrific deaths of millions of Ukrainians. These innocent victims of the Moscow regime must not be forgotten, and the terrorist state should be held accountable not only for its past crimes but also for its ongoing war.
