Incontrovertible evidence discovered in the recently-liberated towns of Irpin, Bucha and Hostomel on the northwestern outskirts of Kyiv has revealed that russian soldiers have been executing civilians during their occupation of this area. Satellite photos of Bucha from the 10th of March showed that a mass grave had been dug next to the local church – when the town was liberated, Reuters reported that it had been almost filled with dead civilians.
Others were simply left by the roadside. Associated Press, perhaps the most unbiased and globally trusted news outlet, confirmed that some of these bodies had their hands tied behind their backs and bullet wounds to the head. There is no other way to describe this except that our people, even those with no ties to the military whatsoever, are being dragged out of their homes, tied up, and summarily executed.
These killings have no tactical or military purpose. As far as we can tell, this brutal and systematic massacre has no other objective than what was done in Srebrenica in the 1990s, in Cambodia in the 1970s, or in Babyn Yar, Ukraine, during the Nazi occupation in the 1940s – ethnic cleansing.
That this is our shared pain. That this is our joined desire to STOP THIS WAR.
