Nadiya Savcehnko – The Ukrainian Member of Parliament and delegate to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, who has endured kidnapping, imprisonment of almost 600 days, involuntary psychiatric evaluation and solitary confinement, announced a dry hunger strike on 4 March 2016. The former Ukrainian Air Force pilot is currently on trial in the Russian Federation on politically motivated charges.
We urge luxembourgish society to join the global day of support for Nadiya Savchenko on 9th of March.

The manifestation will be held at 13:00 at the Embassy of Russian Federation ( entrance rue de la Station).
Ukrainian pilot Nadiya Savchenko was defending her country when she was captured in June 2014 and illegally taken across the border into Russia. She has been imprisoned there since.
When their claims that she had come to Russia on her own were met as ridiculous, the authorities put her on trial to justify the kidnapping. She faces 23 years in prison, despite her diplomatic immunity as a member of the Ukrainian parliament and the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE).
On March 4, to protest yet more delays in her trial, Nadiya Savchenko announced a complete hunger strike, refusing all food and drink.
“They are guilty of violating international law, of kidnapping me from Ukraine, bringing me to Russia by force, illegally detaining me in Russian prisons, and subjecting me to a false, dishonorable trial!” – Nadiya Savchenko
Citizens and governments all over the world are demanding that Nadiya Savchenko be released and that the Kremlin end its war in Ukraine that has killed more than 9,000 people.
